Yes! Massage definitely helps get rid of carpal tunnel symptoms. There is NO doubt in my mind!
Massage has so many benefits it’s almost a miracle drug–in fact, it IS a miracle drug!
Do I sound biased? Well, the truth is…I AM!
And what’s with all the exclamation points?
It’s because when I talk about massage therapy I get excited! I LOVE it! Over 30 years in the bodywork field has given me a lot of first-hand reasons to love massage.
Massage is old medicine and it’s powerful medicine. It has no side effects (although some people may have some tenderness following the first session or two).
It’s used all over the world–especially in “less sophisticated and high-med-tech” countries. Those countries use natural remedies instead of drugs and surgery. Why? Costs much less, works well, and anyone can give massage.
Massage is natural medicine.
Therapeutic massage relieves pain and soft tissue dysfunction. One big-name researcher said if we all had a massage a week, we would have 90% less illness. 90%! That’s HUGE.
Why isn’t the medical community
jumping all over this?
Because most of them just don’t understand how the body works–what causes pain. That’s not what medical schools teach. Only a few medical specialists truly understand the roles of muscles in pain. They’re called physiatrists.
Why aren’t the insurance companies jumping all over this? I have no idea.
Massage gets your muscles back into condition, supple and movable, as they are supposed to be. It relieves the tension in muscles from overuse. It also boosts immune systems and this has been documented with honest-to-goodness medical research.
So, can massage help you get rid of your carpal tunnel symptoms? You bet!
Massage helps because your muscles are often the CAUSE of your symptoms.
Most of the day, your arms and head–and sometimes even your legs–are in front of you. Those muscles in the front of your body become short and “tight.” They don’t complain. They just become short. BUT…
The muscles on the back side of your body get overstretched and they do complain. So, should you have massage only on your complaining muscles? No, no, no.
The muscles that can be at the root of your carpal tunnel pain can be in your hand, lower arm, upper arm, chest, back or even your neck!
A really great self-help resource is a blue book that costs less than $20 and will help you do your own trigger-point massage. It will help you understand which muscles are causing your pain and symptoms and what you can do–yourself–to feel better. The author is Claire Davies.
Massage can help re-balance your muscles. It can help the shortened, tight muscles relax. It can help the overstretched muscles be less stretched and more comfortable so they cause less pain.
A really great self-help program is one that I created just for you. It’s simple, easy-to-use, includes a do-it-with-a-friend massage video (and lots more) and can get you on the road to No More Carpal Tunnel Pain!
