Carpal tunnel syndrome often has the same starting point as many other repetitive stress injuries–doing too much of something in the incorrect position–but there’s help.

Even if you are worried about following lots of daily stretches and exercises, there is still hope for you. It doesn’t take long and you are worth the time.
Releasing your carpal tunnel pain and discomfort will take some effort and time, that is true.
But, you are the one having the carpal tunnel syndrome, and so you are the one who has to take care of it. You have to be your own best physician.
Even though you might use the positions which cause your carpal tunnel discomfort for several hours a day, just a little bit of effort will help you relieve your carpal tunnel pain.

How much effort and time will it take?
A good starting point might be 10 minutes
in the morning before you start to work, 10 minutes during your lunch break, 10 minutes after work and 10 minutes before you go to bed. Throw in a couple of five-minute breaks for stretching during the day and you’re all set.
If you’re adding up all of that time, that sounds like about 40 minutes. But, wait! There’s more…
The reality is, you might do the first 10 minutes while you’re waking up in bed. You could do the second 10 minutes when you’re walking to work from wherever you eat your lunch. You may find you can actually stretch one hand after work while you’re driving. But not in heavy traffic.
The last 10 minute stretch period of the day could occur while you’re watching television, or when you get into bed before you fall asleep.
In fact, if you watch television, that is a great time for you to do a variety of stretches for your hands, arms and shoulders. You don’t have to just sit and watch tv. We’re not meant to just sit.
Lots of mini-stretch and movement breaks are much more effective than a solid hour at one time. Got 5 minutes? Make it a stretch break.
And don’t be shy. It’s your body and you have to take care of it.
