Does Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Cause Hand AND Foot Pain?

Do you have numbness or pain in your hands and also in your feet?  Could that all be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

It could be two totally different things going on or it could all be part of one body-wide condition.  That’s why it would be a good idea to see your doctor so he or she can rule out serious whole-body medical conditions, like diabetes.

Although some people are more prone to get diabetes than others, it is largely a disorder caused by lifestyle and what we eat.  Some doctors will have you exercise and change your diet to control it.  Some doctors don’t have faith in their patients, so they will offer medications to you.

What Muscles Can Cause Hand and Foot Pain?

If the muscles in your butt–your gluteal muscles–are tight, they can cause

sensations in the soles of your feet.  They are large powerful muscles that can squeeze the nerves that pass through the hip area.  Sometimes the nerves in your lower back can also cause foot sensations when muscles or (occasionally) spine bones press on the nerves.

If the muscles in your neck, chest and arms are tight, they can cause sensations in your hands, wrists and lower arms.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be caused by pressure on a nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel in your wrist.  Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome can be caused by pressure on a different nerve as it passes near your ankle.

Besides nerve impingement, whole bodies can be affected by diets that cause inflammation and certain vitamin deficiencies.  This means that if you have pain in both your feet and your hands, it could be a whole-body issue.  It’s correctable naturally.

So, it’s possible that you have two separate things occurring but if you have any reason to believe that you should see your doctor, please follow your instincts and do it.  Carpal Tunnel Syndrome does NOT cause pain in both your hands and your feet.
