Do you have pain in the ring finger and baby finger on the palm side of your hand?
Here are two possibilities:
#1: Your latissimus muscle. This is the muscle that ‘pops’ out to the side of the back when a man (or woman) flexes it. It can be released by having someone ‘pinch’ the muscle under your armpit at the lower edge of your shoulder blade. If it hurts, that most likely means it is tight and that could be the cause of your pain.
Remember, you get to control the amount of discomfort caused by the pinching. And have the pincher actually pick up muscle and tissue rather than just skin.
#2: The other possibility is the rib muscles on the side-to-front of your ribs on the same side. Explore them, press into them, looking for tender places. Hold the tender places (press on them.) Try to feel the muscles as they cover your ribs and press on the soft areas rather than the bones.
There is one other possibility if neither of these areas are tight or painful. That would be the scalene muscles in your neck.
Your symptoms could be caused by trigger points in the muscles in #1 or #2 or by tight muscles in your arm or neck pressing on the nerve that goes to your hand. If you release (relax) the muscles your symptoms will go away. It’s just a matter of of taking action after you figure out which muscles are causing pain in your baby finger and ring finger. 🙂
