Do you have pain in your upper arm near the shoulder on the front and the back side of your arm?
Do you also have pain that runs from your shoulder down to your hand? Some people think the pain runs up to the shoulder.
If the painful area in your arm and hand looks a lot like the red areas on this picture you are in luck!
You are in luck because this might be a very easy fix for you. 🙂
The darker red in the illustration shows areas of the most discomfort. The lighter, stippled red spots are areas of discomfort but not as severe.
The “X‘s” on the back side of the body indicate trigger points.
What are trigger points? They are very irritable places in muscles that cause pain elsewhere. And they are responsible for most pain in hands and wrists.
So trigger
points cause hand, wrist and arm pain but they are usually overlooked by doctors. Why? Muscles that cause pain is just not part of their training. It should be but it’s not.
See the X‘s where the trigger points are? And see where the pain pattern (the red) is? Your hand is pretty far from any of the trigger points but a trigger point is causing the pain. That’s how they work; they cause pain at a distance.
How can you get rid of the pain that goes from your shoulder to your hand?
Press the X‘s. It’s really that simple. Those X‘s are on the outside of your shoulder blade. They are in a muscle called the infraspinatis. It can be pressed, pinched, lifted, rolled or rubbed.
You may also have additional trigger points in other muscles that are also causing your carpal tunnel pain. You may have to go on a “seek and destroy mission” to get rid of all of them. Or you might have some plain, old tight muscles that need some self-massage.
Massage is the most wonderful, oldest medicine in the world. Massaging or pressing on trigger points will help them relax and stop sending pain messages.
And massaging plain, old tight muscles will help them relax, too. When your muscles are all happy and relaxed there is a great chance that you will have gotten rid of your carpal tunnel pain naturally.
