Pain in the palm side of your middle finger is not carpal tunnel syndrome. It is a different situation but it could happen at the same time as carpal tunnel syndrome.
If you have pain on the palm side of your middle finger, you will also usually feel it extending beyond the tip of your finger. You will also feel some discomfort in the palm of your hand, in a line with your middle finger.
There are muscles in your lower arm (forearm) which attach to your fingers. Those muscles allow you to move your fingers.
When we use our hands in curled or gripping positions for long periods, sometimes a “trigger point” develops in our forearm muscles. This trigger point causes pain in the middle finger, on the palm side of your hand.
If you press into the muscles about 1/2 way up your forearm, on the palm side, you may find a very tender area.
You might notice that this tender area causes sensation or pain in your middle finger when you press on it. If you notice that, you are exactly on the trigger point that is causing your middle finger pain!
That is the area to press into and massage. You can release (relax) the muscles in your forearm by massaging them. If you don’t think you have found the exact point, that is okay. Massage and stretch your whole forearm anyway.
There are articles right here at Carpal Tunnel Pain Relief Now.com which will help you release those muscles.
