If you have pain that circles your wrist like a bracelet it’s from a muscle that is between your ribs and shoulder blade. That muscle is called the subscapularis muscle and it has a trigger point.
A trigger point is a very irritable area of muscle that causes pain elsewhere. In this case the trigger point is in the muscle between your ribs and shoulder blade and it is ‘firing’ into your wrist!
One way to help subscapularis relax is to ‘walk like a lion’ on all fours. It might be hard on your wrist to walk on your palms so try walking on your folded, flat knuckles.
While you are in this position ROLL your shoulder blades like a lion does. Make them move up and away from your body and toward your spine. The goal is to make them move because the shoulder blades are attached to the subscapularis muscle. So moving the shoulder blade will help stretch and mobilize the subscap muscle.
When the subscapularis muscle has relaxed the pain that circles your wrist will go away.
The pain that’s circling your wrist may not be carpal tunnel syndrome. 🙂 It may be from a trigger point in the muscle that’s between your ribs and shoulder blade–subscapularis.
