Pain in the carpal tunnel area happens for a reason. There are always reasons why we have pain.
Here are several action steps you can take to start getting rid of your carpal tunnel symptoms:
When we know the “why”, then we can pretty well out figure out the “what” to do to stop hurting.
Your body wants to be well and heal itself. Sometimes it just needs a little assist. When you eliminate the things that cause pain, and give your body what it needs to be its’ best, your body can start to heal.
Here are several action steps you can take for natural carpal tunnel pain relief.
1. Work closely. When repetitive reaching is done incorrectly, it causes pain. Often those who work at a desk reach out for long periods while they use their fingers (for instance, using a mouse.) Keep your elbows as comfortably close to your waist as possible when you work at a desk or table.
>>>Can you make this change and keep your elbow next to or very close to your waist?
2. Be ergonomic: Help yourself by using proper work space equipment. If you work in a seated position, use a chair and desk or tray that fits you. Your ankles, knees, hips and elbows should all be at about 90 degree angles or slightly more open.
>>>Are you sitting in a neutral position with a strong, straight back, chest high and head over your shoulders? If not, what can you change to make that happen? <– That’s the link to a website and this is the link to a simple self-help program I created for you: –> Simple Strengthening Course.
Your monitor should be directly in front of your chest not off to the side. Using ear phones or an ear bud will keep your neck muscles from getting stressed.
Keeping your elbow close to your waist and your wrist straight will help a lot!
3. Keep your warranty in effect. Treat your body as though it is an expensive, desirable vehicle–because it is! You need to keep it in good condition for the “lifetime warranty” to stay in effect. Keep your body well-fueled (eat healthy) and maintained (move it) to get the best mileage and performance. Get regular tune-ups (massage.)
Help your body get strong and in balance by taking classes in tai chi, core strengthening or yoga. A strong back makes a happy pain-free body.
Work on getting strong from the back of your thighs to the back of your neck. Here’s an easy, self-help program I created for you: Simple Strengthening Program.
Squeeeeeze your shoulder blades together, toward your spine. But only a few times to start. Too many times will cause post-exercise soreness. You might have to help your muscles wake up (video link) again to do this move.
Work out in a pool for water resistance, moving your arms from side to side. Moving through the water (another video link) is almost like having a massage.
