Pain in your index finger (pointer finger) may be caused by a trigger point in the muscle. When you know where to press, you can make your index finger pain go away.
In this picture, the red areas indicate areas of pain or discomfort. The more red, typically the more pain. The X marks the spot to press. If you don’t find it exactly there, search around a bit.
There are other areas of muscle in your arm and upper body that can cause pain in your pointer finger but this is a simple one to treat yourself.
The X will be a very tender place. Press/squeeze it for a minimum of 12 seconds. You can go back to it a few times.

Hi Kathryn,

Wow, that worked awesome! Hope it continues to relieve the pain!
Hi Elijah,
Trying to share information ‘long-distance’ sometimes misses the mark. It might be muscles farther up your arm. My next suggestion would be to ice the finger and whole area even up to your elbow. Use a cold pack. Did you go to the link for the other article about index finger pain mentioned at the end of this article? Maybe more useful information there for you.
