Ice Is Nice For Finger Pain Relief

Last week I injured by index finger.  Kind of strange how I hurt it.  I was tying my shoe lace and my finger sort of got tied in.

And it hurt quite a bit!

But I didn’t think it was broken.  I could move it.

But it hurt.

It kept waking me all night.  So in the morning I got out the cold pack and started using cold therapy. (I should have started the day before.)

Now a finger is pretty small and I didn’t want to do tissue damage so I kept the cold pack on for a much shorter time than I would have for a larger area.  I wrapped it around my finger off and on for only a few minutes (3-4) at a time.

I could tell right away it was hurting less.  Bending it became easier.

When I got to school, I iced it a little more with my cold water bottle.  Within several hours it was perfectly fine!  🙂

In this case, the finger hurt because there was injury directly to the finger.  But your finger pain may be coming from the muscles in your hand or arm or the front of your chest or your neck!
