Are you interested in a natural carpal tunnel pain remedy? Here’s one: Feldenkrais.
I LOVE the Feldenkrais method! So much so that I have hired Feldenkrais instructors to come and teach in my clinic in the past.
Moshe Feldenkrais was an engineer who (as I recall the story) did not want surgery for his painful knees. Being structurally oriented, he used his engineering background to cure his knee pain. The method was born!
How does this tie in with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Easy. Carpal tunnel symptoms come from all over; they are not necessarily caused where you feel your pain, numbness or tingling. Feldenkrais technique treats your whole body, subtly and simply and gently.
The National Institutes of Health have said that Yoga is very beneficial for relieving carpal tunnel pain, even better than a wrist splint. I’m sure if they studied the effects of Feldenkrais on hand and wrist pain, they would come up with the same result.
There are two types of Feldenkrais treatment.
1. You may have individual sessions with a therapist (and it takes a LOT of training to be a therapist.) The therapist guides you through movements with gentle pressure to help you re-learn the most efficient use of your muscles.
2. You can take part in group sessions. In this case, the therapist guides the whole group with her voice. Either type is very effective.
If you would love to experience no muscle tension–feeling “flat as a pancake” as one woman told me–then you must try Feldenkrais therapy.
Here is the link to a very good article written by a medical doctor who is also a Feldenkrais practitioner. Just one more way you can get natural carpal tunnel pain relief!
Thank you, Stacy.
I know the Feldenkrais method is offered in a few physical therapy clinics and I can certainly understand why! It is a wonderful “tool” to help people get out of pain.

Excellent article, I am a PT Feldenkrais practitioner and find it extremely helpful. Especially to assist people in understanding their injuries are not local.
Thank you.
