Who can help you get rid of your carpal tunnel symptoms?

Here are four possible causes for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and the people who can help you for each of the causes:

Diabetes.  You need a doctor to help you control your sugar diabetes.  You can often take control yourself with diet and lifestyle changes, but if your diabetes is severe enough to cause symptoms like carpal tunnel syndrome, you should see your medical doctor.

Pregnancy.  When you are done being pregnant, your carpal tunnel syndrome will usually go away.  It is caused by extra fluids causing pressure in your carpal tunnel.  In the meantime, your doctor may have suggestions and a massage therapist may be able to move some of the fluid away from your carpal tunnel, at least temporarily.  When it doesn’t go away after delivery, it may be because you retained extra weight OR you spend so much time holding your beautiful new baby.  Lots of time spent with arms in front, holding, and looking down, can create carpal tunnel symptoms because nerves in front of the neck and shoulders get compressed.  This easy-to-use, self-help program can help:  Simple Strengthening.

And, when you are looking for a therapist to help you, you also want to know that they know what to do for your condition.  It’s a good idea to interview your potential therapist before starting treatment.  You want to feel pretty sure that they can help you get rid of your carpal tunnel pain before you start paying for treatment.  Here are some questions to ask:

Have they worked with people who have carpal tunnel syndrome before?

What were the results?

What would their plan be for you?  Where would they work?  Where do they think your symptoms might be coming from?  (If they indicate your wrist, eh, probably not the one for you.)
