Who Gets Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Why do you have carpal tunnel pain?  Who gets Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?  More importantly, how can you get rid of your symptoms?

“Symptom” = pain, numbness, tingling, headaches, etc.
“Syndrome” = a collection or bunch of symptoms.

Apparently, occupations that require a lot of certain hand, arm or body positions suffer the most.  Those jobs include:

Plumbers
Computer repair people
Carpenters
Line workers in factories
Farm workers
Moms
Gardeners
And more!

Jobs that jar or jam the hand or use vibrating tools or require holding arms or hands in one position for long periods can aggravate the muscles around the wrist and cause symptoms in the carpal tunnel area.  Doing

twisting movements with your wrist can aggravate your hand and arm muscles, too.  Sleeping with your wrists bent and your shoulders curled can also cause hand pain.  This may be diagnosed as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Poor posture with a “forward head” can also cause carpal tunnel pain.  That may be the most common cause of pain and symptoms in your hand, wrist and arm.  We could most likely work without getting symptoms if we regained the good posture that we used to have as kids.

You can find lots of helpful information right here.

So, who gets Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?  Not too many people, really.  It’s not really an epidemic, as one doctor recently said.  It’s often misdiagnosed.

But the truth is that you DO have pain or other uncomfortable symptoms in your hand, wrist or arm.  And when you understand the causes–and the actions to take to get rid of your symptoms–then you can have carpal tunnel pain relief.
